In The Village
Guidance for living the Vision when you’re out and about in the village.
- Stick to the paths and trails to protect fragile plants, nesting sites and habitats.

- Pick up litter when you see it, and join our beach clean‑ups!
- Avoid walking around with food — it attracts baboons. If one approaches, place the food down and move away calmly. Don’t mistake a baboon’s fear expression (lips pulled back with teeth bared) for aggression.Â
- Stay quiet and calm around wildlife. Don’t scare or try to intimidate them. That includes your pets, who should always be leashed.
- Lock your car doors, even if you’re inside. Baboons know how to open them.
- When driving, keep your speed at 20 kph and watch out for animals crossing.
- If you spot any wildlife in trouble, report it to one of the numbers in the Wildlife Emergency Contact List.
- Tell your visitors, guests, employees and contractors about these tips too.
