Rooiels book

The book “Rooiels: A Village Between the Mountains and the Sea” is a richly written and beautifully illustrated history of Rooiels, showcasing what makes our village so magical. The book is based on the original history of Rooiels written by Rita Blake in 1998. Since then, with RERA’s backing and facilitation, subsequent editions have been enriched with additional articles, visuals and stories from a growing community of contributors. Under the sure editing hand of local traveller, author and TV producer Gerard Scholtz, each version of the book has evolved to become more beautiful, evocative and beloved. 

The book is currently out of print, but reprints do happen every few years when there is demand. If you’d like to get your hands on a copy, please contact rera@rooiels.org.za.
